The Google launched a new service, the YouTube TV, a sort of “Cable Internet”, as had been speculated since last year. This is a television platform with live transmission where the user can watch what they want, where they want, whenever they want.
Everything is controlled by a mobile application, but can be watched by several devices connected to YouTube apps / website.
How it works
To use YouTube TV, each user will need to have an account, controlled via an app. In it, it will be possible to configure your preferences, watch what you want and transmit any programming to other devices, such as televisions.
Where to watch?
The YouTube TV app is compatible with various device- Android and iOS. Also it can be broadcast on all Chrome cast consistent devices.
How much does it cost?
YouTube TV will cost $ 35 a month, around R $ 110 (taking into account the current quote), and the user will be able to cancel anytime they want, without annual bonds and fines. This value includes six accounts for different users, that is, six people can share the same subscription and have, in their profile, only what they watch and are interested in.
YouTube TV has famous channels like ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, ESPN, Disney Channel, National Geographic, FX and many others, as well as variations such as EPSN, ESPN 2 and ESPN 3. In total, there are more than 40 options. There is also the possibility to pay more to have extra content, such as Showtime, for example.
When does it start to work?
There is no official date yet. Google promises to launch the app very soon
Will it work in other countries?
For now, YouTube TV will only work in major American centres. There is a promise that it will arrive soon throughout the United States. There is, however, no promise regarding other countries.
The idea is for the user to watch what they want, whenever they want. For this, the system has advanced a feature that allows all newscast content to be recorded. That way, if you are not in a good position to watch a football match, for example, you can record and watch later.
This feature is already available by many cable TV operators, but the novelty is because it is not necessary to do this operation by the television set, it is done by cell phone, anywhere. Besides, Google offers an infinite storage space in the cloud, with a validity period of nine months.
What is the difference with a normal cable TV?
Cable TVs are more limited. They are not controlled by application, do not offer a particular experience for each person that uses (the same subscription), nor unlimited storage of recordings.
What about YouTube Red?
YouTube TV offers a very different service from YouTube Red, launched in 2015. The latter is a version of YouTube as we know it, but without ads and with original and exclusive content. The TV app, on the other hand, brings the content of television stations to an experience similar to “on demand”. However, Google says that TV subscribers will have access to exclusive content on YouTube Red, although advertisements continue.
Although it seems very innovative, other companies already work with similar services in the United States, such as Sony, with PlayStation Vue and Direct TV and Sling TV services, all American.
